A location conversion occurs when several locations use the same system.
One location becomes a test site for the new system and, when the problems are worked out there, the system is implemented at all other locations as well. Abrupt conversions are typically scheduled during extended periods of down time, such as weekends or the beginning of a new financial year, in order to discover and correct any potential problems before workers return and begin using the new system. An abrupt cutover, also known as a plunge, involves shutting down the old system and converting to the new one at a predetermined time.

There is no nice way to do it in SQL2000 (ROWNUMBER was introduced at SQL2005) - it can be done, but if you have a lot of data it is going to be painfully slow as you have to either generate a temporary table or nest a select if you have a sorted column. Well this is quite interesting. It seems that Excel and SQL Server use differing starting points in dealing with dates. The integer portion 39363 in SQL Server represents the number of days since 1/1/1900, wheras, Excel the number represents the number of days since, which gives us a variance of two days.
- If you use SQL Server 2005 then you can use ROWNUMBER function. Select ROWNUMBER OVER (Order By SomeColumn), RequiredOtherColumns From TableName. If you use SQL Server 2000 & if you have any unique column on your table then you can use the following query, select Main.ColumnNames, Count(Sub.UniqueColumnName) as RowNumber From TableName Main.
- The best approach is not programmatic, but let your database automatically create an incrementing field. In SQL Server this is called an identity column. In your insert statement, you simply skip over that column as if it doesn't exist but SQL Server will automatically increment and populate it for you.

I know we can generate row_number in select statement. But row_number starts from 1, I need to generate from 2 and onwards.

to add:
AakashMAakashMROW_NUMBER()
has an unusual syntax, and can be confusing with the various OVER
and PARTITION BY
clauses, but when all is said and done it is still just a function with a numeric return value, and that return value can be manipulated in the same way as any other number.Sql Server Add Serial Number
